Why Plastic Surgery? When it comes to plastic surgery, some wonder what plastic surgery is, are there different types of plastic surgery, and if so what types and what are their differences. While plastic surgery can be attractive at times it can also have a harsh effect on your body. Sometimes one might have to have multiple procedures in order to up keep the procedure that was performed. It can also cause infections and scar tissue to form. Then again it can also be a very helpful surgery to fix something that would otherwise cause complications to everyday living. What is plastic surgery? In the article “What Is Plastic Surgery” it states, “Plastic surgery is a special type of surgery that can involve both a person’s appearance and ability to function” (The Nemours Foundation 1). Not only can plastic surgery help a person live their everyday life to the best of their ability; he or she could also be happy with the way they look. Now, the person does not have to look like he or ‘she is completely made of plastic or filled with botulinum toxin. According to the article “What is Botulinum Toxin”, “Botulinum toxin is a purified toxin and, when given in large amounts, it blocks the nerve signals from the brain to the muscle, causing a generalized paralysis called botulism” (American Society for Dermatologic Surgery 3). That is not everything there is to know about plastic surgery. Whether a person is not satisfied with their body structure or they have some type of deformity, luckily plastic surgery is most likely an option for this person’s life. Are there different types of plastic surgery? Yes, there are two different types of plastic surgery. The first one is Cosmetic plastic surgery. One expert says that, “Cosmetic (also called aesthetic) procedures alter a part of the body that the person is not satisfied with” (The Nemours Foundation 1). The second type of plastic surgery is reconstructive surgery. This person says, “Reconstructive procedures correct defects on the face or body” (The Nemours Foundation 1). This is someone who might have been in an accident and was wounded badly or maybe someone who was born with a defect. Cosmetic surgery is usually associated with the beauty factor.
